From a Christmas Eve hello to a lifetime together

How we met

We first met at the Christmas Eve service at Mt Vernon Global Methodist Church of Pert — a place rich with family history, cherished memories, and the steadfast faith that shaped both of their lives.

As the Christmas Eve service came to an end, I was outside when I heard my grandmother, Margaret, urgently calling me back into the church. Wanting to help, I quickly turned around and went back inside. The moment I opened the door, she asked a simple question.

"Jonathan, have you met Maggie?"

Standing there with Maggie's parents, my grandmother, and my parents all nearby, we were introduced for the very first time. What felt a little awkward in the moment would later become the beginning of something neither of us could have imagined.

What began as a brief conversation in a familiar place soon grew into a deep friendship and a beautiful relationship: filled with long conversations, shared laughter, quiet prayers, and a growing sense that God was gently and faithfully weaving our lives together.

Our Proposal

On the Fourth of July, we set off early that morning for Houston to attend the FIFA World Cup match between Canada and Morocco. Little did Maggie know that after, I had one very important question I was planning to ask her.

We watched Morocco defeat Canada 3-0 on America's 250th birthday, no better way to celebrate America's birthday. After the game, we drove to McGovern Centennial Gardens, where I suggested we change into nicer clothes for"photos."

Once we were dressed, we took a leisurely walk through the beautiful flower gardens. When we reached the perfect spot, I told Maggie how much she meant to me. Then I got down on one knee to ask the question I had been waiting to ask:

"Will you marry me?"

With a huge smile, Maggie answered, "Yes! Of course I will!"

What she didn't know was that I had hired Allyn with Pear and Grace Photography to secretly capture the proposal. She was surprised to see our photographer waiting nearby and even more surprised when she found out we had a two hour engagement photo session planned.

After our photos, we celebrated at the beautiful Flora Mexican Restaurant. The food was incredible, the staff made us feel so special, and we enjoyed complimentary champaigne along with a sparkling cotton candy desert.

To end the evening, we took a boat tour along the Buffalo Bayou River while waiting for the Fourth of July fireworks. Watching the spectacular fireworks together was the perfect ending to a day we will never forget.

Growing together

With greatful hearts and great excitement, we look forward to beginning this next chapter of our lives together, surrounded by the love and support of our family and friends. We are also thankful for God's faithfulness in bringing our paths together and look forward to building a marriage that honors Him in all we do.
